Our Pastor
Rev. Carl Van Dam was born in Barrhead, Alberta on October 18, 1972 but spent most of his life in Burlington, Ontario, where he moved in 1981 when his father was appointed Professor of Old Testament at the Theological College of the Canadian Reformed Churches in Hamilton. He received his B.A. degree from McMaster University in Hamilton and then spent four years at the Theological College of the Canadian Reformed Churches en route to completing the M.Div. degree which he did in 1997. After that, he went to Kampen, the Netherlands to study at the Theologische Universiteit (Broederweg) and in 1999 received the Th.Drs. degree. Currently he is working on a Th.D. at that university. The topic of his dissertation is the patristic exegesis of Zechariah 14.
Since January 2004, Carl has served as the minister of the Covenant Canadian Reformed Church at Grassie. In August 2004, he married Lisa de Boer, who was born in British Columbia but spent much of her life in Calgary. The Lord has blessed their marriage with a daughter, Rachel Joanne (September 1, 2005) as well as son, Martin (March 12, 2007). The Van Dam family lives in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada.
